Description:

Alltech Services, Inc. provided Application Support Services for the OCIO’s client National Institute of Justice. The National Institute of Justice (NIJ), a component of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), is the research, development, and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice. Since the late 1990’s, NIJ has used an internally-developed database known as “Pipeline,” in order to facilitate budget execution, project and project deliverable tracking, program monitoring documentation, and publications tracking of the agency’s research, development, and evaluation activities.

This legacy system is a Full Lifecycle Award Tracking and Management System. It is a Client Server Application using MS Access 2002 as the Front end running on a network infrastructure standardized on Cisco, Sun, Microsoft, and Oracle 8i as the Back end database. Pipeline data gets weekly data import using database links to populate data from external systems. Security is granted via Oracle roles for the NIJ staff. All data changes are audited using archive tables. Users have the ability to perform data export into Access, Excel, Text and HTML format. The system has a lifecycle Reports Repository of approximately 100 reports, extensive file linking capability (e.g. correspondence, comments, and grant documents.

Alltech staff provides Project Management support. Working with the Program Manager and Project Managers, Alltech facilitates developing project work breakdown structures (WBS), prepared Microsoft Project 2000 project schedules, and reports risks associated with their projects

The support required understanding the work involved in completing database tasks, operations tasks, data manipulation tasks, and document management.
